Why did the re-authentication bring in a duplicate bank account?
We have identified an issue with the way certain providers are handling the identifier of an account. As such, instead of successfully re-authenticating an account and recognising this is the same account that is already connected, a new duplicate is being brought in. We are in conversation with the FCA and relevant providers on this.
What Money Dashboard has done to fix this
In the meantime, the team has attempted a workaround to create a separate matching system for re-authentication so that duplicates are not brought in. For this solution to work, we would be matching against the last digits of your account number.
Why this fix doesn't work for me
If you were issued a new credit card (which will then mean a new credit card number is logged for the re-authentication attempt), this will mean the system will not be able to match up against the previous credit card number.
What can I do?
To prevent duplicate transactions from being pulled through you will need to remove the original/'older' version of the credit card connection. More information about how to delete a bank account can be found here:
