Is my Money Dashboard Neon account shareable?
Money Dashboard Neon is a Personal Finance Assistant so you can have all your personal accounts in one place. It is generally intended for sole use, but we do understand that some of our users like to see an overview of all household finances, and would like to set up an account to be used by multiple people - partners, other family members, housemates, etc.
It is currently only possible to create a Money Dashboard Neon account with one email address and password, so if you do wish to use the Money Dashboard Neon account with someone else you would be sharing the same login details for it.
What's the solution?
Money Dashboard Neon can support multiple bank accounts belonging to different individuals, but this is to be done at the users' discretion, and there are some privacy issues you should consider first.
We advise that you do not share your bank login credentials with anyone, even your partner, and you may find you are not able to add/refresh all accounts easily or regularly if the other user is present at the time.
Please also note that if you do share a Money Dashboard Neon account with another person then both of you will be able to see each others personal accounts as well as any Joint accounts you may have together.
How about having 2 different Money Dashboard Neon accounts and connecting the same bank accounts on separate Money Dashboard Neon accounts?
If you are trying to connect a bank account more than once on Money Dashboard Neon (for example, you have multiple Money Dashboard Neon accounts/your partner also has access the same bank account), this is currently not supported.
With open banking APIs, OAuth technology is used to gain access to your accounts without the need for you to share your online banking credentials with third parties providers such as Money Dashboard Neon.
Due to the nature of OAuth, the provider/bank will grant 1 key token during the process of sharing your account with a specific third party provider. When your partner connects his/her bank accounts, this key is issued for connection to that Money Dashboard Neon account associated with her email address and subsequently, the same key will not work again when trying to add the same accounts to your own Money Dashboard Neon account.
