Have you paid for your friend’s dinner and they have repaid you by bank transfer? To make sure your spend analysis is reflective of your own spend, we would recommend re-categorising your friend’s transfer as food & drink. That way your £60 dinner bill and your friends £30 transfer will net out to a £30 expenditure in the food & drink category (i.e. your half of the bill).
Similarly, if you transfer money to your friend for a shared expense, you should update the category of your transfer to reflect the purpose of your spend. Was it to pay your half of a hotel room in the holidays category? Or are you paying for a concert ticket in the experience category? Take the time to make sure your categories match up so your spend analysis is accurate.
