Re-categorising transaction on Mobile app
You are able to update a transaction's category from multiple areas of the app. So long you are able to tap into your transaction to further view the details of the transaction you can re-categorise the transaction. For the web app a full list of your transaction is populated on the 'Home' tab, as such we will use the 'Home' tab as an example of how to re-categorise a transaction but the same steps will be applicable from other areas of the app whereby you can tap into a transaction (e.g. from your Overview and Budgets)
1. Swipe up for your list of transactions on the 'Home' tab
2. Locate the transaction you wish to update
3. Tap on the transaction to bring up the transaction details view
4. Under 'Category', click on it to bring up the category selection box
5. After selecting the new category or adding a new custom category, you can then choose to apply this category change to:
- Only this transaction OR
- This and similar transactions
If you have selected 'This and similar transactions' you will now be presented with the options to either:
1. Apply this category to similar previous transactions OR
2. Apply this category to similar previous transactions AND set rule
By choosing to set a rule, future transactions that have the same description will automatically be categorised with the same category.
You can choose to update/edit category rules and more information about how to do so can be found here:

When to use 'Apply to X transactions and set rule'
The 'Set rule' feature works by reading the description of your transactions. As such, it is important to take this into consideration when choosing to apply the option for setting a category rule.
For example, all PayPal transaction will be picked up by the system as a similar transaction and be assigned the same category once you apply to 'set rule' even though you might want to assign a different category for different PayPal purchases.
The 'set rule' feature is handy to avoid having to repeat manually categorising each similar transaction in your existing transaction list, as well as future transactions.
What would happen is the original category you apply to this one transaction would apply across other transactions that the system picks up as being similar. Each time you select 'set rule', this is stored as a category rule.
